The China Standardization Management committed issue the news on 17th that the 31st session of ISO (the International Standardization Organization) which ended on 16th passed the resolution of revising the ISO regulation and expanding the ISO permanent members. China, which was listed sixth of the ISO contributing rate countries, became the ISO permanent member officially.

The International Standardization Organization is in the world biggest non-government standardization Specialized agency and occupies the dominant position in the international standardization. So far, ISO has official members more than 100 and takes responsible to formulate the general international standard around the world to advances the international trade and the science and technology development and strengthen the international economic cooperation.

ISO has the name of “the technical United Nations”, China becoming the ISO permanent member is generally considered as the symbol of the acknowledgment and the approval from international technical fields The national standards committee indicated that this also symbolizes the Chinese standardization work has realized “the historical important breakthrough”.

Although the ISO formulation's standard is only recommended to all countries around the world but not compulsory standard, but standard promulgated by the ISO has the very strong authority, guidance and versatility in the world, so it plays a very vital role to the world standardization advancement, therefore various countries pay attention to the ISO standard.
